WebJul 8, 2012 · Friday, July 06, 2012 10:55 PM ( permalink ) I have seen in some cases where a failing PSU that is severely overvolting can cause a GPU to overheat, but it is pretty rare in my experience. As others mentioned it is more likely an airflow issue, or an issue with the heatsink making proper thermal contact with the GPU.

WebAs it turns out it is the Nvidia Graphics card driver that is doing this. I uninstalled the software in programs and features and uninstalled the card in devices ticking remove drivers. I then restarted the computer. For good measure I uninstalled the card again in devices and restarted the computer again.
