Webb26 juli 2016 · It started good cold or hot, idled nice, WOT and part throttle were fine, but the problem was on slow take off it would want to die, every time. Every red light was an embarrassment waiting to happen. Needed to stay on the clutch and rev the sh1t out of it to get moving otherwise it would stall. Going from 50 to 55 idle jets eliminated the bog and the bus drives MUCH better. I will on rare occasions get a light pop thru the carbs at very light throttle but the 55 idle jets were a big improvement in my case. These problems can often be tuned out with the air screw. There's a couple techniques for the pilot/air screw. If you get a bog on acceleration, the idle circuit probably isn't supplying enough fuel. As Critter suggested, try opening up the pilot a few more turns and see if it makes a difference. Idle rpms should go up and down with the twist.

You're right about bypassing the idle circuit at fast idle, but the car will bog down from slow idle too if you wait just long enough for the fast idle cam to disengage. On the butterfly and the choke spring, I think they're not far off as "index" seems about the right tension to me.
